{"id":136,"date":"2007-06-21T05:29:49","date_gmt":"2007-06-21T10:29:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.textillian.com\/?p=136"},"modified":"2007-06-21T05:29:49","modified_gmt":"2007-06-21T10:29:49","slug":"put-me-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.textillian.com\/?p=136","title":{"rendered":"Put Me Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Everybody-Else-Doing-Why-Cant\/dp\/B000001DXL\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4\/103-8899562-9693438?ie=UTF8&amp;s=music&amp;qid=1182425448&amp;sr=8-4\">Reference\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well, I was hoping to be farther along on this by now, but progress is still being made:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.textillian.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/baby-sweater-ip.jpg\" title=\"baby sweater in progress\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.textillian.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/baby-sweater-ip.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"baby sweater in progress\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second sleeve has a few more rows to go, and then I will &#8220;put the stitches down&#8221; in to the body of the sweater and work on the collar. I am putting down stitches, as opposed to binding off and sewing the sleeve onto the body for a few reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I am not all that crazy about sewing on sleeves, and putting down stitches takes about the same amount of time for me as binding off and sewing the sleeve on.<\/li>\n<li>I think it gives a more secure join<\/li>\n<li>Because of the stitch pattern, I am able to conceal the bind of from the put-down in a ridge, so it will produce less bulk for the seam<\/li>\n<li>I am not all that crazy about&#8230;. Oh, I said that one already.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here is what the join looks like on the right side:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.textillian.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/sleeve-join-right-side.jpg\" title=\"Put down sleeve - right side\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.textillian.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/sleeve-join-right-side.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"Put down sleeve - right side\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And on the wrong side:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.textillian.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/sleeve-join-wrong-side.jpg\" title=\"Put down sleeve - wrong side\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.textillian.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/sleeve-join-wrong-side.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"Put down sleeve - wrong side\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>See? The bind off of the sleeve (running vertically in that last picture) is pretty much falling into the valley of the shaker knit rib. Doesn&#8217;t mean I wouldn&#8217;t do it for other stitch patterns, but this one kind of lent itself to it.<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t wait to get this done, mostly because I have kind of become tired of it for some reason. It also could be because I feel someone else is waiting for it, even though that someone else doesn&#8217;t even know it is being made for her. Kookie, I know.
